Luckily, I had finished my version of V1116 OOP, AKA "Clown Pants"
which I had originally made for my friend Joan more than a year ago; I had a very special party I wanted to wear them to and I came in just under the wire.
I made them in a wonderful "Issey Miyake" type fabric from Marcy Tilton; I've had the fabric for a long time, waiting for the perfect project. It's crinkled, silky-like, in woven black checks on a silvery-gray background. I wore them with my beloved Trippen boots and a close-fitting wrapped jersey top.
The look of these pants is quite "fabric-dependent"; the ones I made for Joan were out of a crisp nylon taffeta-like blend and look very different than my lighter-weight "swooshy" ones. It was a lovely party, a celebration of very dear friends' 50th wedding anniversary.
I am eager to start the New Year with a studio cleanup; I also use the space as "Gift-Wrapping
Central", so it's particularly in need of attention.
Happy New Year to you all...I hope 2013 will be a year of peace, creativity and lots of sewing time!
Eleven days of houseguests would be very difficult for me. I need my privacy. You look particularly elegant in your photos- love your wonderful necklace.

Great and very funky pants only someone with your style and slim body can pull off. So wish Solana Beach were closer to Santa Barbara as I'm headed there on Thursday for 2 weeks. Would love to meet you in person as I have heard so much from Shams and Jilly about you!
ReplyDeleteYou look fabulous, Margy!
ReplyDeleteOMG, I would have shot myself by now if I had company for that long! I love your pants. They are so YOU! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had a nice holiday and so glad for you to have your routine restored. Those pants are fabulous! I have that pattern and need to make it up. I like that it fits you well through the hips and then does it's wonderful funky-ness below. Happy 2013, my friend!

ReplyDeleteBest wishes for a great 2013 .
At once glamour and comfort, you look fabulous....and I've got some of this very fabric I've been saving, moving it to the top of the pile. I SO enjoy your blog, love seeing the great clothes you make and wear!
ReplyDeleteBoho chic at its finest! Wishing you a stylish and happy 2013, and more visits from sewing royalty (I'm impressed by commenter above!)
ReplyDeleteAs an anything-but-jeans kind of girl, I love those funky pants! As always you make them look so much better than the pattern envelope, Margy. Wishing you and yours a very Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteYou wear this look so elegantly.
ReplyDeleteFabulous ensemble -- you work it equally well. Your glasses remind me of Carrie Donovan, Fashion Editor of Bloomingdale's and earlier, Harper's Bazaar, where I worked for her long, long ago. Her glasses were her statement piece. Yours too?
ReplyDeleteLove those pants. You look fabulous! I've got to get the pattern.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous look! And such a wonderful occasion to celebrate.
