Yes, that's a plastic bag on my head...
hasn't slowed us down much!
I'm almost back to normal, whatever that is, and ready to share my life again.
I made another kappogi for my friend Joan, for Christmas,
hope she enjoys this one as well.
I also made a pair of "lantern pants", V8712 OOP, from Marcy Tilton, to go with a new pair of boots. My elegant friend Willie from Oregon stopped by on her way to spend Christmas with her family in Los Angeles. She looked so stylish in her
pants, jacket and boots, that I tried to copy her look...
(picture lightened to show details). I haven't quite got it yet, but I'll keep trying!
The Visible Women are having a post-holiday meet up later this afternoon over at Patti's blog...
come over and say hi!
Thanks so much for the pattern for the Japanese apron. I have wanted to make something like that ever since the ones I bought in Taiwan many years ago finally wore out.
ReplyDeleteThis time of year can be overwhelming and depressing. You are not alone.
ReplyDeleteI love your inspirations - the apron is great. And your pants with boots look darn good. I, too, have problems with the dark days. I have the bright 'sunshine' lights in my sewing studio - they really help. But, the days are getting longer!!

I understand that feeling - because mine comes on after Christmas and lasts until March/April when the weather finally changes and it's light again. So I understand. I use sewing as the way to deal too - probably why I sew so much during the winter months. Love the new outfit! Glad you're feeling better!
ReplyDeleteYou're not alone with your seasonal depression, and it looks like you are treating it well with good friends and laughter. And your fab sewing skills, of course! Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday, xox.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you are feeling better, Margy. That kappogi is so cute and the slightly-cropped-pants-with-boots look is so you!
ReplyDeleteSo lovely that you share your inner being here as well as your creations. Glad we are almost to January 1, and I hope the light continues to cheer you.
ReplyDeleteYour post resonates with me too Margy! Not an easy time for me either, and hopefully with the days beginning to get longer, and the 'holidays' drawing to a close, things will get brighter!
ReplyDeleteVery stylish bag my friend!!!
Wishing your the most exciting New Year ever!
ReplyDeleteYes, dancing is a great remedy for so many things! :-) I also get to feeling a little overwhelmed this time of year, and am glad the majority of holiday obligations are now behind us. Love the pants!
ReplyDeleteYou're the best plastic bag-wearer I've ever seen. Good to see you again! I'm glad your energy is kicking back into gear and that you've been sewing away. It's very dark in Vancouver too and I look to my art accessories to help me get through.
ReplyDeleteSending Light and Love for the new year of 2015!
ReplyDeleteThe holidays can be overwhelming. There is always so much to do and so many expectations. Hang in there. January 1 is just a few days away. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteMargy, don't let anything drag you down. I know you - you are a strong, STRONG lady!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you could dance during the difficult holiday season. Depression is the bane of so many of us, esp. women. At least you recognize how easy it is to descend into the dark.
ReplyDeleteThe New Year holds promise and I wish you well. Popped by from Vis Monday.

You are not alone! Sorry..... for me it's comforting... a powerwomen like you has the same feelings.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes from Germany

As much as I want to sleep and sleep this time of year, it is counterbalanced by my ability to get on with about 5 hour sleep all summer! I have come to the conclusion for me it is a physical phenomenon and just roll with it until the days become longer again.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, you are not alone in this. It's a very difficult time for me as well.
ReplyDeleteLove those black glasses! I have a hard time with season changes in general---it can be tough!
ReplyDeleteI made those same pants by Marcy Tilton...I had a heck of the time with the folds, they just didn't meet up the way they were supposed to. I added an inch to the length (I'm pretty tall) and although I finally got the pleat the way it was supposed to be, they ended up about 6" too short! But I love the look. I made them out of some cheap fabric I had since they were an experiment. Now I'll make them out of a beautiful silk tweed I bought.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're back in the world again...those episodes can be so debilitating.
How lucky am I then to have Christmas in summer? But at least you have fun holidays in winter when here in the southern hemisphere no such fun. Best wishes for 2015 :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry the pressures of the holiday season causes sadness for you. This might sound silly, but all you have to do is look in the mirror. You have a light that shines for all to see. Your creativity, sense of style, and love of travel showcased in your blog creates a lot of happiness for others. I do hope knowing how happy you make your blog readers, helps you through this rough time.
ReplyDeleteSo lovely to 'see' you again my dear! Isn't it a lovely time when the holidays are behind us! Besides September … January always fills me with such possibilities for fresh starts!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a new year filled with abundant joys!
xoxo

So happy to see you back Margy! Your red plastic bag headwear definitely made my day. I love your new creations! Hope that 2015 is as wonderful as you are.
ReplyDeleteWow! nice look.
