SPRING!

The weather is warming up (82°F as I write), so I am shifting for the moment from the Fall Paris Wardrobe to Los Olivos Summer!

This outfit was inspired by my new Trippens...

The style is called Union, and it is in one of my favorite Trippen colors...
"Black Ice".

The pants are V8712, an OOP Marcy Tilton pattern...

I made View C, added a band at the bottom, and made sure to use these cute
pockets..they are particularly fun in stripes!

The fabric is a woven stripe in shades of gray on white, from Marcy Tilton.

The top is Style Arc Daisy, without the extra hems. The fabric is from the mists of time (i.e. I don't remember where I got it). It's a very drapey smocked rayon.

Hanging with Buddha...(and yes, I'm showing off the glorious roses :)

Maggie was up last weekend and we did our "fun in the kitchen routine" as
usual. The April cover of Saveur Magazine caught my eye in the market; Dave and I enjoyed our trip to Sicily so much, and particularly the food and wine, so I knew we would enjoy this:

substituted Quinoa for the Couscous, as Maggie is GF

and we also made Sicilian Caponata, from the same issue.

The peas are from Dave's garden! It was a delicious dinner!

And on to the sad part...we lost our beautiful Paddywack 5 days ago...
He was only 6 ½, he went suddenly and way too soon. He was, of course, a
part of the family, and as readers of my blog know, my beloved Fashion Accessory.

R.I.P., Paddy

I'll be showing up at Patti's Visible Monday later this afternoon, so pay us a visit!

  10. Oh, farewell, Paddy.
Thank you, Paddy, for your love and loyalty.
    What a wonderful friend.
A Springer? I have been a parent to 2, mine were field dogs, Paddy looks like he was a show? Springers are especially close to their families.

  11. I lost my beloved German Shepherd, Fero, at the tender age of 4 due to an acute illness. Nothing prepares you for the loss and it seems for unfair. My heart aches for you. RIP Paddy.

  12. There aren't adequate words to express my condolences, but consider yourself wrapped in a warm cyber hug Margy. Losing a four legged love is never, ever, easy....and...it's especially hard when are beloved beasts are called back to spirit suddenly and at a young age. May he be flying free on the wings of an angel. xo

  24. Condolences on the passing of the lovely stylish Paddywack. All the shoes on the planet cannot make up for a dog shaped empty space in one's life. All the best to you.

  29. My heart goes out to you over the lost of Paddywack....it is amazing how they worm their way into our hearts....

Love your pattern and color combinations.
Back in May 2013 you mentioned doing a tutorial on the linings of your travel jackets/vest and how you add all those pockets. Did you ever do that?

    RIP Paddy

    1. Hi, Connie...I just noticed your question. I posted a tutorial on my travel vest pockets on May 30, 2013. I can't figure out how to link it in a reply, so you'll have to go back in my blog.

  30. So very sorry about the loss of Paddy. He looked so sweet in the pictures, as if he had a secret that he would share for a treat. I lost my Bagel last November & it was very difficult saying goodbye. I miss most (besides Bagels lovely bark & companionship) the smell and feel of sun-warmed dog fur.

  31. Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about Paddy. He was a lovely accessory and looked to be a good friend. Those little furkids can never stay long enough, but it is particularly painful when they go much too soon. RIP Paddy, and hugs to you.

  33. Your summer outfit is flowy and breezy and just right. I love the cuff and pocket details on the pants. And of course your Trippins are perfect. They have the best soles!

And of course so very, very sad that Paddywack has moved on already. I'm glad you had those years together and I'm sorry for this loss. It hits so hard when these things happen.
