One more...and it's RED!

Much to my disappointment, the gray checked manteau I showed in my last post didn't make the lineup:

so, of course, I had to make another...

It's V7854, OOP. I made View A, and used a zipper instead of hooks and eyes.
The denim, I think, came from Hancocks, and the black and white striped ikat came from B&J Fabrics. It's pretty basic, and probably looks better open, over a tank or tee, but it'll do for Iran.
I'm in the process of deciding on my final travel wardrobe, so this will be a brief post. I DID make a vest with pockets; however, my choice of fabrics was not wise and it ended up in the wadder pile...

YUCK!!!!!!

  3. I too love the red top and looks great with your black pants and red shoes. Shame about the other one's crinkle factor.

Not long now before you go - exciting.

  4. As I scrolled down and caught the first glimpse of your new red jacket, I said, "oh, Wow!!" Right out loud!! Thankfully no one was sitting with me except the dogs and they are accustomed to me talking to my self:)Your jacket is a knock out.

  5. In the wadder pile?! Something you made? And it's such a sculptural piece too. But if lumpy and bumpy doesn't cut it...
I love the red piece you made with that chevron detailing. Boom!

  9. I hope you have an amazing trip. I'm always proud of travellers who show off their good taste. You are going to be one who shows that Americans know how to dress well!

  10. Though I love the grey check blouse, I can see it would look wrinkley and messy before too long. The red jacket is super, and I like the chevrons. Your wadder is quite interesting-I can see what attracted you. Is the hem more narrow than the rest?

  11. I prefer tunics also. I'm in awe of your pattern and fabric choices. It's amazing how many looks we can create from varied style and fabrics choices and never look like we're wearing the same thing. This red tunic is on point! You and many other sewing bloggers are definitely causing me to think outside of the box.

  12. Thumbs WAY up on the new manteau!!! The vest looks so interesting. I love the triangles (pockets?) - please don't wad it until you return and take a fresh look; surely it can be saved?

  15. I appreciate you sharing the item you didn't think was successful. What pattern was the vest made from?
    It looks really interesting.

  16. I am so sorry that the gray checked manteau wrinkles too easily for a travel wardrobe. But you can still wear it at home, right? It is gorgeous.
And the vest - OH that has happened to me, too! And it made me so mad!
But the red jacket is a winner!

  17. The vest is interesting - perhaps one day you might unpick it and turn it into something that you are comfortable in.

  19. I love your new red manteau with the black and white bias trim! It is SO sharp looking! Meh. We've all had wadders! Too bad, because it did have some interesting fabrics and details. I can't wait to see your travel wardrobe post!

  20. Love the red with the black and white - really snappy! The vest...not my favorite and not at all flattering on you. No wonder you deemed it a 'wadder' - and thanks for letting novices like myself know that even accomplished sewists still have the occasional goof! :)

Hope you have a wonderful time on your trip!
