A SUMMER TUNIC

This stunning ethnic-type print caught my eye several years ago at Fabric of Vision in Ashland, Oregon...

It's a small store with a lot of great fabrics and wonderful trims and notions; definitely worth a trip if you're in the area.

I used Kwik Sew 3601...as with most older KwikSew patterns, the illustrations
look a little dowdy

but the drafting and instructions are perfect. The contrasting trim is a stretch linen which was left over from another project. I've already worn it several times; it's perfect for this climate and my lifestyle.

Here's that fashion accessory, Paddywack, again!

I'm joining up with Patti's Visible Monday again...stop by to see some very
visible women!

I hope your week is super!

  16. I love the name Paddywack. Now you need a cat called Pyewacket from the cat in the movie Bell, Book and Candle with Kim Novak...
Fabulous tunic! That's brilliant how you aligned the fabric so the horizontal stripes go across the waist area.

  17. Kwik Sew do look frumpy in their illustrations, I agree, but you have certainly bought this to life - it is really striking. Once again, the fabric is what makes a garment.

  22. You have a wonderful ability to take something that would have looked terribly dowdy on someone else - like me - and make it look fabulously stylish. It's very encouraging. Thank you.

  24. Love it, Margy! I'm a big tunic fan, but haven't seen that Kwik Sew pattern before - probably passed it over without looking closely! Very well done - and I love the fabric pattern placement, too :)

  26. I love that you put the strong horizontal line at the waist - perfect placement! Strong resemblance between this tunic and a popular child's tunic pattern (http://www.made-by-rae.com/2011/05/charlie-tunic-pdf-sewing-pattern-is-here/) - right down to the contrast cuffs, placket detail, and side slits.

  29. Beautiful! Lovely fabric, and your white trim makes is smashing with white jeans. Navy for fall, and black boots to make the currently touted combo of black, blue and white again? You look lovely in your creation, and are also wearing some pretty stylin' sandals!
