The last pair of pants...

...I'll make before I get fitted for my NEW pants pattern!

These are B5614, lengthened to an ankle length.
They are ok...I did a wedge removal from the CB, hoping to get rid of those wrinkles, but they're STILL THERE!

So...I leave on Monday, Memorial Day, to drive to Northern California to meet with Lynda Maynard, a whiz at fitting, who teaches at a San Jose area college and also at Sewing Workshop in San Francisco. She has written a book, The Dressmaker's Handbook of Couture Sewing Techniques, which is very good, but obviously not enough for my aging brain. She has worked a lot with Kenneth King, and comes highly recommended by local sewists. She will fit me for pants over a 3 day period, and when finished, will give me a custom-made pattern which will get rid of the wrinkles!

While I am waiting for the various stages of fitting, I hope to play a little with Shams and several other Bay Area friends. Look out, Bay Area!

  1. I can't wait, my friend!! Too bad your visit won't overlap with ReAnn's, as I am having lunch with her and Jillian today.

I love these pants but my eyes did go right to the wrinkles in back. Having said that, I doubt I would ever have noticed them except you and I have talked about them. They really aren't that bad, but I understand how you want to ELIMINATE them.

I can't wait to hear how it goes with Lynda! She is very highly regarded as a fit expert in my sewing community!

  5. That sounds like the best way to spend a few days! I have been wanting to do the same thing, but with a blouse pattern also. Still looking for someone in my neck 'o the woods.
I agree about your pants, love them, so attractive on you, but I know the wrinkles are bothersome.

  7. I have had a pants fitting problem for over 50 years. here in Australia! My husband now realizes , after he read your blog, that I am not a pants fitting tragic, as he has seen me try everything in the book to perfect a pattern[ and now I could write a book]. It's a world wide problem!

  8. I love those pants, who would have to use polka dots and have them look so chic? Love the blouse also, is it sewn by you? I hope your new pants pattern is a winner, and have fun with Shams!

  12. I just can't get over meeting you today. What a wonderful surprise event! And to see your wonderful Dotty in person. Looks even better in real life. Barbara and I managed to meet up with Jillian for a while at the Cult of Beauty exhibit and got a little better acquainted. I hope we can all meet again not too far in the future. How lucky you are to spend a few days with Sharon. Ann
