heat wave...My day has been 30 minutes in the studio, with 3 fans on me, then 10 minutes here
See?
Then back to the studio, wash, rinse and repeat, etc....
I am ready to start my MOB jacket, but am waiting on interfacing from
Fashion Sewing Supply...Pam is the BEST...super products and the very best customer service.
I finally got the time to watch my latest Craftsy workshop, "The Ultimate Tee
Shirt" by Marcy and Katherine Tilton. This is one I can whole-heartedly recommend. It's basic, yet I learned a whole lot from it. It's so interesting to
discover how many little "tricks" there are that I haven't known about before. I totally enjoyed watching the dynamic between Marcy and Katherine...and seeing how there are MANY ways to accomplish various tasks. If you haven't signed up for this, do it now!
While waiting for the interfacing for MOB, I made a little Sandra Betzina jacket,
V7281 (OOP) out of a black and white polka dot cotton. Can't remember where I got the fabric...it's a lovely weight, little bit of stretch. I hope I never get too old to love polka dots!
I made "stacked" buttons to go on this, as I couldn't find just the right thing.
My Canon SLR camera is misbehaving (gasp) so I didn't get many pictures on me...
I like the little top...it's quite fitted.
I've started participating in Visible Monday, a weekly celebration started by Patti, on her blog, Not Dead Yet Style...
"Visible Monday started in July 2011 as a way to celebrate our diverse beauty and love of style. (Here’s where I first wrote about it.) I came up with the idea of a "Visible Day" for us bloggers, in which we post an outfit, accessory, lipstick color, hairstyle, etc., that expresses our Joy of Being (Physically) Visible.
Whoever wants to can join in, any given Monday. Just compose a post that includes any outfit, accessory, piece of jewelry, hairstyle, cosmetic or other adornment that makes you feel more confident, alive and visible that day. No restrictions, just share your beauty."
Come visit and see all the beautiful women...and join in, if you like!

Thank you, Margy, for linking up to Visible Monday! You are beautifully visible in your black, white and red top and those fabulous bangles. I look forward to seeing you again next week!
ReplyDeleteMargy, you look terrific in your new Sandra Betzina jacket. Love the stacked button detail.
ReplyDeleteIt is 98 degrees in Portland today. Not as hot a you, but we are definitely not use to this.
You do look cool as a cuke in your darling polka dots! Drink lots!
ReplyDeleteI have that pattern and have never sewn it. Your version is so fun. I, too, love dots! Sorry about the temps, but you definitely know how to cool off. I don't believe we've seen our first 100 degree day. Fine with me after all that 110+ last summer.
ReplyDeleteOMG that jacket is stunning! I'm always amazed how advanced sewists have that ability to take a pattern to a new level. The piping and the stacked buttons make the jacket stand out. I'm still working on improving my skill level--but I'm taking notes.:)
ReplyDeleteI so agree with Robin above. You have a wonderful ability to add your own POV to a pattern and make it special. Really cute jacket and so chic.
ReplyDeleteI always love to see your creations. You are so talented.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous polka dot jacket. Looks stunning on you as does every other thing I've seen you make. (smile)
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of Visible Monday. Thanks for sharing.
I love this jacket, Margy! I also have this pattern, languishing somewhere. It is so fabulous with the red trim and your stacked buttons!! That pool looks mighty inviting. :) Stay cool!
ReplyDeleteGreat jacket-- it look so nice on you! Love the red accents. I've been hearing on the news about the heatwave. No fun.
ReplyDeleteblue hue wonderland
It's so great to see what you do to make a basic pattern your own! The red piping is beautiful against the black and white. Your pool looks absolutely inviting as well. ENJOY!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE!
ReplyDeleteCute top!
ReplyDeleteRE visible Monday: I just read Looks, about a girl who makes herself invisible.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/0142414190
My daughter loved it. I thought it was ok and worth reading.
Awesome fitted jacket. You look like a model in it.
ReplyDeleteTry putting a bowl of ice cubes in front of your fan. It's a cheap air-conditioner, although at those temps, I suppose all bets are off. Glad you have a pool! Where's your fruity drink with the umbrella?
Love your little jacket, Margy! So smart. Clever idea with the buttons. You really stepped this up - yours is sooo much better looking than the envelope pic. Wow - what heat. I've been in Phoenix when it was 114, just could not believe it. And I was in a business suit! What struck me was that no one was outside, no one on the sidewalks - the heat empties the streets pretty effectively! Hope it cools soon...
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely jacket you made!!!
ReplyDeleteHere in England the Summer has been quite shy - how annoying how some places have too much heat and others too little!!
Awful heat! Stay safe out there - your lap pool looks like the perfect solution! :) Your jacket is cute - so fun! Thanks, too, for another source for sewing supplies!
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried any of the videos...will have to look at the one on tees.
PS...What I could REALLY use is a good guide for what type of interfacing to use on what fabric with what project! Anyone know of a good one?
DeleteOh heavens! I can not imagine life without polka dots. If anything, we need them more as we age.
ReplyDeleteI adore your jacket. And the stacked buttons are genius! i will definitely be borrowing this nifty idea.
Try and stay cool in the heat; having a pool is a most enjoyable way to do so.
Now, I'm off to check out Craftsy Workshop.
Sue xo
wow that pattern looks so much better sewn up than on the envelope, what a great top, or jacket? I expect it goes with so many things in your wardrobe. Stay cool, I am doing the same, lots of pool time :)
ReplyDeleteI was about to say the same thing about that pattern,Beth. I have it too, but have never been keen enough to sew it. Now.....
DeleteLove, love the polka dot jacket! Does one get too old for polka dots? Surely not! It just wouldn't be right!
ReplyDeleteI just love the tshirt tutorial at Craftsy. I had to put down my project because I'm travelling. Will have to start again when I get back. Learned so much from the Tilton Sisters.
ReplyDeleteLove anything you sew.
Wonderful jacket! Such a talented, tasteful lady. So sad that you have to jump in your pool to cool off. Tsk. But then, I'm sure you deserve it after working so hard in the studio. Lucky you!
ReplyDeleteFabulous jacket - love the stacked buttons and piping!
ReplyDeleteLove the polkadots with the ringed buttons and bangles...and white trousers! Fresh and fun. Beautifully made--
ReplyDeleteGreat tactics for staying cool too. A pool would be wonderful in heat like that.
Never too old for polka dots. Very cute jacket!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful,Margy!! You are my inspiration!!
ReplyDeleteThe beautiful jacket fits you like a glove and love your photos. Radiant and full of life!
ReplyDeleteVery very chic, Margy. Love the red and the stacked buttons. Stay cool.

Margy, love your cute jacket! I have that pattern and I have considered it many times. You have steered me back to it.
ReplyDeletePolka dots are the best!
The jacket is so pretty! I love how you stacked the buttons to get the look that worked with the jacket. So very pretty!
ReplyDeletesuch a great jacket and love the pop of red - hope the heat doesn't hold you back too much but the water looks great - going to check out the visible Monday link.

ReplyDeleteSo happy to have you join Patti's Visible party!
ReplyDeleteI love that little jacket - shape is so flattering, and the polka dot fabric with red piping makes it go "POW"! Excellent problem-solving with the stacked buttons.

ReplyDeleteI adore those huge sunglasses. I would be living in the pool all summer. You look fierce and I love this outfit. Go you!
