about last week...
I glued purse interfacing to the back of the belt with leather/suede glue; I hope it lasts for a while!
and that gives me a chance to wear my new favorite summer sandals:
Pretty, aren't they!
While I'm waiting for a vintage pattern to arrive, to muslin my MOB jacket, I've sewn a few little pieces:
This vintage Butterick 3250 tie-in-front blouse, made in a cranberry and white Ikat from F&S Fabrics in Los Angeles. I think the pattern is from the 60's...sort of a fun "do you remember"...
and then I tried out V1355, Sandra Betzina's recent "harem pants"...
I made them from a very drapey rayon I got at Planet Fabric in Venice (Los Angeles) Fun for a summer night...
Off to the Post Office to see if my pattern has come!

I love your tie front blouse, lovely fabric!
ReplyDeleteYou must be the most dazzling person at the post office!
ReplyDeleteOkay, obi belt--beautiful. Red tie-front blouse--very cute. Red summer sandals--very fun and very you. Harem pants--fabulous. But what I really love is the snake sculpture on the wall behind you--I would steal that in a minute! But seriously, it is always so fun to come by your blog and see what new loviness you've created. Very inspirational.
ReplyDeleteWhat a an elegant collection of "odds and ends"! Love those sandals too!
ReplyDeleteI want to be you for my birthday wish :-)
ReplyDeleteThose pants took good on you . I think you chose the perfect fabric. Glad you got the red belt to work too. Great red shirt too.
ReplyDeleteYou are one of the few mature women who looks fabulous in harem pants. I also admire your discipline in sticking to the red/black/white palette. Its my favourite scheme, but you wouldn't know it looking at my rainbow fabric stash.
ReplyDeletelovely outfits - especially like your new shoes.
ReplyDeleteoh I LOVE your harem pants! and your red shoes :)
ReplyDeleteI love all of it! That kimono look is SO good on you! A great save of the red obi belt! I love the ikat top so much I tracked the pattern down. The harem pants are fun. And those shoes... drool. I also love that snake wall sculpture!
ReplyDeleteI love that red shirt, too. My daughter asked me to make her a tie-front shirt after seeing some in stores. I, too, found a vintage pattern (Simplicity from Lanetz Living). Hmm, I thought of a check or a batik, but ikat is sounding pretty tempting. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteLove the shoes. What brand are they? Also did you use a pattern for the belt?
ReplyDeleteI reread and found your link to the shoes.
DeleteRed obi with those shoes...model perfect! And you have the most cool patterns. You must sew with joy when making these wonderful unique clothes that you know you'll feel and look like a million bucks in when you wear them.
ReplyDeleteOh, you don't need an excuse to wear hot red sandals like that!
ReplyDeleteLove the belt.
You are the only person I've seen who can pull of harem pants. Seriously, they look great. Your fabric choice makes them work. wear them with that fab ikat shirt, then stand in front of the snake... I can hear the exotic music plating in my head as I type.
I love the obi belt- I want one just like yours! And those harum pants you look amazing in 'em.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your soul (and soles) for June's Shoe Shine!
ReplyDeleteYou always look so great in everything. Love the red shoes!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe shoes are fab. I don't know how many people can pull off harem pants, but you definitely can!
ReplyDeleteHumm! Did not buy that pattern for the harem pants. The model did not do them justice. Love them on you and I quess I'll have to buy this pattern now. The belt looks great on you.
ReplyDeleteSaw lots of harem pants on my recent trip to Spain. You look fabulous in yours! Love the shoes, too.
ReplyDeleteJust discovered you through Bella. You look very, very nice in every outfit. Great you made those harem trousers. And the red shoes in the top picture are indeed really cute.
ReplyDeleteGreat work on the odds and ends of your sewing life, Margy. I wouldn't have given the harem pants pattern a second look until I saw your version.Great work on saving the obi belt and on the 50's look shirt. I half expected Rock Hudson to photo bomb your pose.:)
ReplyDeleteTotally go-juss as always, Margy! I love harem pants. I have a pair from an old Issey Miyake pattern that I still wear often. They aren't quite so sleek as yours though. But then neither am I! Here in our Punjabi Market they are "salwar" and they are an integral part of a "suit" (salwar/trousers, kameez/tunic plus dupatta/scarf).
ReplyDeleteThe obi looks spectacular on you. Your accessories are always compelling, as is your home decor.
