Gratitude...

I wake up every day in gratitude for what I have been given, the lessons that life has taught me, and the family and friends I love, and who love me, and the gifts of passion and curiosity which make my life an exciting one.

Yesterday was my 73rd birthday; although I am not a superstitious person, I have lately experienced a few moments of anxiety...my mother died on her 73rd birthday and my sister died a few weeks before she would have turned 73. So I was particularly grateful to wake up this morning!

  4. We never know what is around the corner but dwelling on it is not a good idea. Live each day to the full as I have noticed you do with your interesting travels and other activities. Live like that and you will get to 100 no doubt! Happy birthday and many happy returns.

  18. Happy Birthday! My dear "big" sister died suddenly at just 54. Being three years younger, I struggled with anxiety and guilt during those three years until reaching 54 myself. Don't know why this haunted me so much until then, I pretty much convinced everyone around me I was not going to make it. Now, at 60, I try to enjoy everyday - my sister is never far from my thoughts. It is bittersweet to go on in life without her presence. I believe I understand your emotions. Wishing you all the best.

  32. Happy birthday, Margy! I so appreciate your creative energy and enthusiasm. Can't wait to see where the coming year takes you!

My mom died at 73, and I remember something my dad said to me - he had lost a lot of friends that year, and a few years later he said: "If I can just get them to 73, they stick around for a long time". And that is true for him! He, and his good friends, continue to travel, paint, party, and raise hell...and they are all in their 80's.

  33. I agree with Robyn. I too worked in IT and hoping not to lose my IT skills at troubleshooting my computer. You give me hope that I can still "fix" my computer as I age. I am now 64 and retired 2 years ago. I love your blogs and sewing samples. Don't ever stop! I've just discovered you and need the encouragement to keep on sewing and working on my computer and other electronic devices. Happy belated birthday and I wish you many, many more.
